I am an illustrator and art educator in love with story and song.
My work is the intersection of all sorts of very different realities.
Faith and fairytale - humor and hope - childlike innocence and twisting darkness - deep thought and sudden improvisation - simple cartoons and the intricacies of the observable world - all this and more finds a home in my art and my teaching.
I am a New York State Certified teacher of Visual Arts.
I have earned my MFA in Art Education from Russell Sage College.
I have a BFA in Illustration from St. John’s University in Queens.
Born in Bolivia but raised in Upstate New York, I have been blessed with the chance to see world from many different angles. I have lived in the suburbs, the big city, the country, and the backwoods - all within New York State. Rubbing shoulders with rich and poor, conservatives and liberals, Americans and Internationals, young and old, I have found that I don’t fit nicely in any one box. That’s fine by me.
My family growing up could be described as the ultimate functional family. Having lived with so much love and support, I want to do my best to share it with others. As a child I experienced some homeschooling, some private school, and some public school. I studied illustration at St. John’s University and Art Education at Russell Sage College. I have been involved with the camp Deerfoot Lodge for over 14 years now (from a first-year camper to a program director). I have also worked at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Castleton, NY as the Family Ministry Coordinator, overseeing Sunday school and other church programing.
